Miner's Gems.....
July 16, 2008
Hello YCSH Members,
It's mid-July, unbelievable, this summer as with most, is flying by. As we plan internally for upcoming events, I wanted to highlight a few items.
Many of the large functions are chaired by members with help from our excellent staff. Our club is lucky to have so many volunteers from the membership to help, without the membership; many of these events would not be possible or look so beautiful. So I wanted to say thank you and stay involved.
July 19th marks our annual Lobster night, a night which will fill up. Please make your reservation soon. Since we have so many new members, let me explain how this night works. Chef Al places the order for as many 2 to 2 1/2 lb cold water lobsters as needed for reservations. Reservations are taken on half hour intervals, as regular dining is handled. We set up a salad bar for starters, and when all your guests are seated the lobsters come out. The rest of the dinner is served family style and bibs will be available. Steamed clams, corn and baked potatoes round out the meal. For those land lubbers who do not enjoy lobster, an 8 oz Filet Mignon, cooked to your desired temperature will also be available. Since lobster tends to be a buttery meal, hot towels will be available for all after dinner. We will be raffling off Louie the Lobster at the end of the evening. Louie is the largest lobster that will be available to the chef from our suppliers. The winner of Louie may do as he or she please with their prize. Chef AL would be happy to steam Louie for pick up on Sunday. Since Lobster are a high cost item and we do not want to over order, the 48 hour cancellation policy is in effect for the event.
Session 2 for the YAP program is starting on July 28. If your kids are interested in having tons of fun for the next three weeks, contact Laura Owens now and join the fun. Laura’s email address is owens132@comcast.net. The deadline for signing up is July 18th .
The Marlin Tournament date has been changed from the date on the club quad-fold. The registration cocktail party will be on Thursday July 24th at 6 pm and the awards dinner will take place on Sunday July 27th. Both events take place at the club. If you have not signed your boat up for the tournament; please contact the club office for more information.
Once again thanks for all of your help and see you at the club
